Is there an art to foiling a stained glass grouse? Well, you can’t be timid when tackling the foiling of lots of small detailed pieces, that’s for sure. We have lots of different foil widths, from 1/8″-1/4″, and we use all 3 colors of foil backing: copper, silver and black-backed. We vary the widths and backing colors constantly, and this panel is intricate and detailed so the foiling has to be perfect to create just the right glass effects. And the foiling is almost done! Not quite time for the happy dance, but we are close. We’ll be taking more photos soon. And if you’d like to learn more about foiling techniques we use to create fine art in stained glass, stay tuned. We’ll be posting more on that, too.
